TURN 2 FOUNDATION, INC.

Statement of Policy and Objectives

The Turn 2 Foundation, Inc., a private non-profit corporation, was established in 1996 by Derek Jeter to promote a healthy lifestyle for youth. The program's activities are designed to motivate young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and "TURN 2" healthy lifestyles. Through these ventures, the Foundation strives to create outlets that promote and reward academic excellence, leadership development and positive behavior along with promoting substance abuse prevention and treatment programs.

Policies and programs are directed by the Board of Directors, who have discretionary powers and are dedicated to discharging their responsibility in a manner that will result in the maximum beneficial use of the Foundation's resources to promote a healthy lifestyle for youth.

Due to the close association of Derek Jeter with the West Michigan Tampa and New York metropolitan areas, programs and projects related to youth in those areas are of primary concern to the Foundation. Over the past 12 years, the Turn 2 Foundation has awarded grants to programs in these three areas, the goals and missions of which were equivalent to those of the Foundation.

The Foundation has established signature programs in both West Michigan and New York. These programs are:

  • Jeter’s Leaders
  • Turn 2 Us, Healthy Lifestyles
  • Turn 2 After School Programs
  • Turn 2 Baseball Clinics
  • Turn 2 Endowed Scholarships
  • Proud to Be Me
  • Smart Moves
  • Staying Smart at the Bay
  • Youth in Action
  • Jeter Meter
  • Turn 2 Baseball Camps

Going forward, the Turn 2 Foundation will focus its funding on maintaining and enhancing these signature programs.
